A Czech mail order company that sends elephant poo around the EU could be faced with a hefty bill after a package of dung sparked a terror alert at an Austrian town hall.
The Czech website www.darujhovna.cz offers people "joy by giving others shit", and users who sign up can fill in the name and the address of the person they want to receive an elephant dung parcel - for just 8 GBP.
But the firm's special delivery failed to impress civil servants at the town hall in Schwechat on the outskirts of Vienna when it turned up addressed to the local Burgermeister Gerhard Frauenberger.
His secretary was immediately suspicious after reading the message in English saying "open immediately after receiving".
She called police, and they advised her to get the building evacuated immediately and called in anti-terror cops to deal with the suspicious package.
After it was given the all clear from bomb disposal experts who confirmed the substance was not explosive, toxicologists were then called in to see if it was a deadly toxin.
They confirmed however that the substance was indeed as it claimed 200 grams of elephant poop.
As a result of the alert the local council is now refusing to accept any packages where it is not clear who the sender is, and filed a criminal complaint against the anonymous sender and the Czech firm.
On it's website the firm offers users "the chance to send anybody shit anonymously."
It adds: "Your shit is beautifully packaged and sent to the address of your choice anywhere in the EU. With our service you can send shit to your boss, your colleagues, your relatives or your friends. And it's all harmless shit, voluntarily donated by our elephant partners who are constantly checked to make sure they are healthy by veterinarians."
