Playful panda bear cubs at Schoenbrunn Zoo

The latest additions to the panda enclosure at Schoenbrunn Zoo have been enjoying getting to know their toys.

Baby Fu Bao's has discovered his new favourite pastime - rock climbing. Along with his older brother Fu Hu, he also has been enjoying climbing high up into to the swings or playing about on the swing.

"Fu Bao finds it exciting that the swing moves when he climbs. But even his mother finds it very comfortable. Yang Yang enjoys spending her afternoon nap in the swing," said zoo director Dagmar Schratter.

These photos of the family hanging together in the swing show just how comfortable the life of the panda family is.

Fu Bao weighs in at 14 kilograms and is now eight months old and zookeepers say he relies a lot on his mother as a playmate. This reflects how it would be in the wild too, where panda bear cubs are normally reared as only children.

"Fu Bao is naturally very playful and he can be pretty cocky when playing. Again and again he tweaks his mother with his sharp baby teeth. But she is very patient," says Schratter.
