The players at Austrian football champion Rapid Vienna are not entirely happy with their new suits and ties as they are in the colour of rivals Austria Vienna.
The Vienna-based fashion house Tlapa consoled the club’s players with suits, shirts and ties from their new collection this week. The team will wear the goods by German designer Digel until the 2010/11 season.
Tlapa spokesman Norbert Disper tried to soothe the startled players by saying: "Purple is the colour of the season – and I would say the collection’s tone is lavender."
Stefan Maierhofer, Rapid’s 202-centimetre tall striker said: "That the trousers are long enough is all that matters to me."
Rapid Vienna, who face Kapfenberg on Saturday, have seven fewer points than Red Bull Salzburg, who lead the Bundesliga with 55 points.
