Gran turns tables on shocked robber

A Croatian gran almost brained a supermarket robber after she threatened him with her walking stick and he tried to frighten her off with an electric shock device.

As soon as the pensioner was zapped on the chest her walking stick arm whipped down - and cracked the unlucky robber on the head.

Brave gran Andjelka Gojak, 66, said: "I thought a couple were having a row when I saw the man was actually trying to grab a bundle of money off a woman supermarket cashier. I threatened him with my walking stick and told him to go away and then he pushed something against my coat. It shocked me and my arm whipped down - smacking him on the head. It was a really loud crack and he dropped the money bag and ran off holding his head."

Police where the attack happened in the southern Croatian town of Makarska say they are still looking for the crook. Supermarket worker Ana Svragulja, 38, had been taking the money to the bank when the man had pounced.
