Two-headed baby abandoned

Medics are caring for an abandoned two-headed baby dumped in an irrigation ditch by his mother.

Police in Hanzhuang, central China, found the hours-old infant after reports of a baby crying in the middle of the night.

Doctors say the tot has one fully formed head and another, smaller, head with only partially formed features.

The second head includes eyes, a nose, mouth and ears but has no body.

Carer Yuan Xianrong - in charge of the baby's well-being until his mum is found - said: "He is completely healthy except for his two heads. It's too early to talk about surgery yet.

"But it is amazing that he survived after being dumped in the ditch. It was filled with rubbish and mud and old water.

"When officers picked him up they at first did not realise he had the defamation and thought it was just rubbish stuck to the child - then they realised that the baby had the deformation and took him straight to the hospital."

Local officials are trying to find the mother

You should never dumped your child in a dith if you don't want your child u should always take him or her to either a fire station or a hospital where they can help with departmet of family services and get that child a loving home.

This is China we're talking about. Baby abandonment is illegal, and they only GET one baby. Dropping it off at the local hospital is not an option. The kid is just lucky to be have been found, others don't get a second chance after being given the thumbs down by the family.

Your're right Smerky, the loch ness monster most likely stole the baby and hid it in a ditch or maybe it was a dingo. Don't be so nieave.

My take on what he means is that someone other then the mother may have dumped the baby. The mother may of had no say in the matter, she could of been told the baby had died and then it was dumped. Remember in China people are generally only able to have one child, The pressure to have a perfect child is high. Family members could well of taken matters into their own hands.

that is horrible that anyone would do that to a child, even one with two heads. It is still a baby and needs to be loved. I am surprised it survived after being left in a ditch. That water was probally filthy and polluted.

That poor baby what is going to happen to him or her? I would take him in a heartbeat. Whoever dumped him should be reprimanded and not allowed to have more children.

Two heads are better than one! One head will forgive mum, but the other head is gonna get revenge.
