Man tries to smuggle rare big cats through airport
A man nabbed trying to smuggle four wild African cats through an airport claimed they were pets.
Latvian Bendiks Voldemars, 34, claimed the reason he had no documents for the dangerous animals when he was stopped by customs in Warsaw was because they were domestic cats.
But when customs officials looked inside the cages they saw the four Serval cats, a predator that can grow up to four stone.
"We don't know why he was bringing them into the country, but he won't be leaving for a long time," said customs spokesman Piotr Talal.
