Wedding Lift

A serial car crook found with stolen wedding presents worth more than 150,000 GBP has confessed to pinching them from cars parked outside churches and hotels.

Police in Rottenburg, Germany, say the 46-year-old man admitted breaking into hundreds of cars on a five year spree with a suspected net haul of nearly 1 million GBP.

"People are so excited at weddings they often forget about basic security and don't lock cars or they leave presents on show," explained one officer.

Inside his apartment police found hundreds of presents still in their gift wrap, wallets, sat-navs, jewellery and more than 20,000 in cash, a popular wedding gift in Germany.
