A rare autograph by the first man in space Yuri Gagarin has been unearthed by hotel staff in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, more than 50 years after he stayed there.
Gagarin - a cosmonaut with the former USSR space program - visited the Trimontium Hotel in 1961 as part of a victory tour of Communist states to mark his orbiting of the Earth.
"I am very grateful to this hotel for the happy moments I spent here. I wish you more visitors from all countries, and in the future – from other planets," he wrote in the old hotel register, now set to be auctioned off.
