A heavyweight German jeweller managed to catch and sit on a would be-robber who he spotted breaking into a mobile phone shop as he was walking on the way to his store.
The 16 stone jeweller Jannis Vassiliou, 65, lumbered into action when he saw fellow shopkeeper Joerg Fuchs, 41, battling with a robber in the western German city of Bonn.
Vassiliou said: "I go past everyday and often say hello to Joerg. I immediately saw there was a problem.
"I ran into the shop, got the robber by the neck, pushed him to the floor, I then sat on him. He was then still and quiet. That is probably because he couldn't move because of my 100 kilos (16 stone).
"I think he was pleased when the police turned up and I got off him."
The thin robber Torsten Furst, 33, however, stood up and starting shouting abuse at the police, it was heard at his trial in Bonn this week.
When police searched him they found stolen iPhone 5 mobile phones in his bag.
Furst was charged with extortion and robbery as well as insulting a police officer, despite making a full apology in court.
Furst was sentenced to three years and three months in prison. He had previous convictions for drug related offences, the court heard.
