Candid Camera Pair In Court After Victims Heart Attack

Candid Camera Pair In Court After Victims Heart Attack

Two Czech comedians have been jailed after a Candid Camera-style stunt nearly resulted in a victim's death when he collapsed with a massive heart attack.

The comics were performing on Czech Television’s CT1 channel, and posed as a pair of unlikely traffic policemen pulling over motorists in the Czech capital Prague.

Petr Ctvrtnicek, 50, and Jan Potmesil, 48, emerged from their patrol car in a wheelchair and on crutches.

After questioning the drivers, the pair then revealed that they were being filmed by a hidden camera. Then the victims were shown where the camera was, so they could join in the laughs.

But one motorist was so shocked at being caught on camera, he collapsed from a heart attack - and had to be rescued by a member of the television crew.

"The shock of being on TV was too great for him," said a police spokesman. "What was supposed to be funny ended up being deadly serious."

A court judge ordered the pair be given conditional sentences of between six months and a year, but he has yet to decide on the full amount of compensation to be paid to the man's family.

The court heard that it was touch and go whether the man would survive at all, and that he still suffered from health problems as a result.
