A Romanian starlet has been arrested for blackmail after receiving her seventh pair of breast implants.
Authorities allege that Oana Zavoranu threatened to reveal that doctors were using state facilities for boob jobs unless she got another boob job for free - and a lump sum in cash.
She claimed she would go public with news of the "silicon mafia" at work in her homeland, alleging that money reserved for burns victims was actually going on cosmetic surgery.
Authorities say that the 40-year-old TV presenter and actress took 7,000 GBP from Dr Marek Valcu at his clinic in the Romanian capital Bucharest. What Zavaronu did not know is that she was being set up by the doctor who had already informed the police about the blackmail.
"She texted him to say that she was unhappy with her last boob job," said a police spokesman. "The message was quite threatening, asking for another breast implant job and cash to boot. She threatened to reveal 'compromising information' about him if he did not pay up. She claimed that the clinic was using funds meant for burns victims but we have no evidence of this.
"She said she could prove his involvement in an illegal plastic surgery network."
Police in Bucharest did indeed recently arrest medical staff at the Burns Hospital on suspicion of using state money for breast implants, but it was a scandal that her doctor had nothing to do with.
The doctor said the police sting was successful: "She counted the money, took it and put it on the back seat of her car. I gave her the full amount, otherwise the police set-up would not have had anything to arrest her for."
Oana Zavoranu was taken into custody by police shortly after receiving the money from the doctor.
