Stretch Limo Crash Leaves Groom Dead And Bride In Hospital

Stretch Limo Crash Leaves Groom Dead And Bride In Hospital

A newly-wed man died and his bride was seriously injured when their limousine taking them to their wedding reception was involved in a pile-up.

The best man and bridesmaids were also seriously hurt and in hospital in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan. Another fatality in the accident was the driver of the limo.

Eyewitnesses said the limousine collided with a truck as it was driving from the wedding office to a local hall for the wedding celebrations to get under way.

Bride Marina, 29, was conscious and being loaded into an ambulance when she was told that her husband of just minutes Sasha Bourohov, 30, had died at the scene from head injuries.

"This was a terrible tragedy for anyone, but doubly so because it was their wedding day," said a police spokesman. "We are still trying to ascertain all the facts about the weekend crash but it seems the limousine driver rammed the back of the truck at some speed."

Firemen had to use metal cutters to get at the victims trapped inside.

Bridesmaids Yulia Kremchouk, 31, and and Larisa Makova, 28, along with best man Aleksey Toushov, 29, were taken to hospital in a serious condition. The limousine driver, Nikita Cheremohov, 43, was also pronounced dead at the scene.
