The horrific moment a Chinese woman douses her half blinded love rival in petrol and then turns her into a human fireball was filmed by a driver inside this car that had been forced to stop as the human drama played out in front of him.
The tragedy happened when Shi Lu, 40, apparently discovered that the reason her husband had divorced her was because he was seeing a younger woman aged 30.
Apparently the discovery had sent her over the edge and she was determined to get revenge on the other woman after finding out where she lived and worked.
According to police and the video evidence, the old woman then confronted her rival after spotting her coming down the street and had given her a verbal tongue lashing, blaming her for her recent divorce from her husband and ruining her life.
Liu Fu, 46, who runs a tea shop in the area, said: "I heard a commotion and when I looked outside I saw the two women arguing, at least one of the women was loudly accusing the other of seducing her husband and the second woman was just trying to walk away. This seemed to enrage the older woman who squirted some liquid in the other woman's face that left her half blinded. Apparently it was chilli powder.
"The older woman then seemed to run off but actually she only went to the side of the street where she had a bucket filled with liquid that she then threw over the other woman who was clearly struggling to see. She then set her alight and ran off.
"It was horrific, she went up like a human torch, she had been completely doused in the liquid whatever it was and it was obvious nothing could be done for her."
The person in the car who shot this video, handed to police, also seems not to have wanted to help and instead reverses as the badly burning woman moves towards the car and then apparently collapses.
Later the footage shows the smoking and charred corpse lying on the ground.
By the time police arrived the attacker, who had not gone far, had grabbed yet another bottle apparently prepared in advance and containing some kind of poison. She had drunk the contents and was foaming at the mouth by the time officers located her – and she had also stabbed herself repeatedly and was bleeding heavily.
Police confirmed that it appeared to have been a domestic dispute and added that the woman who had drunk the poison and apparently carried out the attack using petrol had told them: "As a woman I don't have anything to live for, please let me die."
The woman who worked as a clerk in a hotel and her estranged husband who is a bus driver had reportedly had a good relationship until recently when their daughter had finished school and was expected to start college this year.
The husband reportedly told her that he had been waiting for their daughter to leave home before announcing that he wanted to start off a new life on his own. He had then apparently moved the younger woman in with him, and had changed the locks on the house so the 40-year-old was not only divorced but homeless.
Shi meanwhile is currently in the intensive care a local hospital where her condition was described as critical.
