A bunch of Russian teenage girls are facing legal action after staging a sexy dance on a monument dedicated to the memory of those who died fighting against the Nazis.
Every year Victory Day, when the Soviet Union marks the surrender of Nazi Germany, is staged on 9 May, but the girls all aged between 15 and 16 were looking for a location to perform a dance video had been unaware that the monument they had chosen to perform on was the local Victory Day Memorial.
The girls who had been travelling around the town of Veliky Novgorod with their dance teacher Elisavet Kostinaya, 24, looking for a suitable location said they had no idea that the monument was for Victory Day.
She said: "I have to accept all the blame as the dance teacher. I've been in the city now for four years but I still don't really know my way around. I thought it was just a monument to Alexander Nevsky or Peter the Great, and I had no idea that it was actually a monument to Victory Day.
"The girls have been in tears since we were told about the mistake and there was all the negative publicity in the local media. We are still pretty upset about it even though I have apologised and said it was one huge misunderstanding with no intention to insult anyone."
Police have reportedly interviewed the dance teacher and the girls and the report has been prepared for prosecutors who are deciding what further action to take if anything.
