Hearty Attempt At Winning Over Lover Rewarded With Yes To Proposal

Hearty Attempt At Winning Over Lover Rewarded With Yes To Proposal

Thousands of Chinese students had a seven hour wait after agreeing to a flash mob request to form two giant hearts pierced by a cupid arrow so that a young man could propose to his girlfriend.

Feng Lin, 23, a university student studying in Changchun City in Jilin Province in northeastern China, had asked for as many people as possible to turn up to help you make a romantic proposal to Hui Mei, 22.

As a result hundreds of fellow students turned up, dressed in blue as requested, to form the giant hearts in waste ground overlooked by the woman's student apartment. But instead of coming home as planned, she decided to stay on in the library and studied until well into the night, by which time the students had been waiting for seven hours.

Feng said: "I guess it was a bit of bad planning because we thought we had somebody alongside her to bring her home on time, but it didn't work out because my girlfriend was worried about an exam and insisted on studying.

"It was really great the people decided to stay, but when it got dark we thought everything would be ruined. But then somebody came up with the idea of getting everybody to press the buttons on their mobile phones to light up the display, and some others used lighters, and in the end I think the effect was even more spectacular."

The young woman who returned tired from studying was reportedly overjoyed by the sudden appearance of the hearts when she looked out of the window and the phones were switched on, and instantly said yes.

The pictures caused heated debate online with some saying it was a remarkably romantic gesture and generous of the other students to help, while others commented that it seems students don't have any work to do any more in China if they can afford to waste so much time sitting on waste ground and not studying.
