Chinese truckers Cong Teng and Xiong Jen survived unscathed after their lorry spectacularly plunged off the side of a motorway bridge.
The accident happened when the pair, both aged 43, had been transporting a load of peat into the Chinese capital Beijing for a new park development when they apparently dozed off.
Police spokesman Tao Tsui said: "One of them was almost certainly asleep while the other was driving, but both at the moment are claiming to be the one that was sleeping and are blaming the crash on the other. The focus of our investigation at the moment is to find out who was telling the truth."
The spectacular crash happened when the truck suddenly veered towards the end of the bridge and then smashed through the barrier, leaving the vehicle suspended in mid-air for several seconds before the trailer fell to the ground, giving the impression that the truck had been thrown against the side of the bridge.
After it hit the ground people rushed over expecting to see the two truckers dead, and instead found them arguing over who was to blame.
Two heavy duty cranes had to be drafted in to lift the lorry and trailer while firemen cut the wreckage free from the bridge. The result was a five-hour traffic jam.
