Property Owner Turns State of The Art Office Into Donkey Shed

Property Owner Turns State of The Art Office Into Donkey Shed

These donkeys possibly have the most expensive stable in the Chinese city of Sanmenxia after the building's owner was unable to find anything else to use the posh offices for.

The business property with super fast internet connections, a tannoy and telephone network and air conditioning was snapped up by Zhang Zuying, 56, for what he thought was a bargain price.

He said he had spent 300,000 GBP on buying the 400 sqm property in Sanmenxia, in central China’s Henan province in 2009.

He added: "I wanted to have something to give me an income in my old age and I thought that the building was a good investment.

"I got a good income by renting out to a storeowner at the start but then cracks started appearing on the walls and the builder refused to do anything about it. By last September it was so bad that everybody inside had moved out and I was told the building was unsafe for use. Not even the market stall owners are interested in using the building because it's so dangerous."

As a result the only thing he could find to use it for to make sure he could still get some income was to agree to let donkeys live there which are used to give children rides at a local park.

He said: "It's not much income but it's better than nothing and the building is a ruin anyway, it needs to be knocked down and rebuilt and the legal row is probably likely to go on for years. But at least the donkeys have the most high-tech stable probably anywhere in China."
