Serbian media interviewing this young woman who works as a politician, cardiologist and part time beauty and body builder contestant were surprised when she was asked who her role model was – and she replied Margaret Thatcher.
That is even more surprising given that Serbian beauty and politician Maja Pavlovic is actually a socialist for the ruling Socialist Party of Serbia.
However when justifying the praise for right winger Maggie, leftist Maja said: "I know it may seem strange that someone from the other side of the political spectrum can be so impressed but Margaret Thatcher was a force of nature. Anybody that knows anything about her life cannot fail to be impressed by a remarkable woman she was, as an example to everyone.
"What she achieved over her life can only help to inspire others and it was my inspiration to go into politics and to make a success of myself doing what makes me happy."
She said that in Serbia, just as it was in the Britain where Margaret Thatcher powered her way to the top, it is very male dominated and she added: "I hope like her to get to the top as well. Whether that's as a politician, a doctor or a model. Second place is not interesting."
The model who still only 23-years-old is often seen posing in her bikini and at modelling or body fitness shoots, in between working as a doctor and her political engagements as a local councillor. She was snapped taking part at the Women's Balkans Body Building Championship and after winning a medal in the European leg of the Women's Bikini Fitness Contest in Spain.
According to the daily tabloid newspaper Telegraf which commissioned these pictures, despite working as a cardiologist the snaps are not for someone with a faint heart.
Yet despite that, according to the paper: "People want to get sick on purpose just to get healed by her, and turning up specifically to ask for her despite the fact that she is still only a junior doctor."
Maja is currently in the fifth and final year of medical school in the central Serbian town of Kragujevac and is now practising on patients as part of her final exams.
She said: "I love medicine and I want to achieve great results there. But I also love politics. I want to stay involved in that and of course through my beauty contest involvement, I hope that I will get to travel and see interesting places."
The final of the bikini fitness contest is to take place abroad between the 17th and 20th of October in Montreal, Canada, but until then she has a full schedule at the surgery where she is working, and a full list of political engagements after being voted the country's sexiest politician.
