Driver Talking On Phone Kills Her Mum In Horrific Crash

A driver chatting on her mobile phone decapitated her mother in a freak accident when she smashed into a motorway crash barrier in southern China.

Horrified Wang Wei watched as the barrier went through the front grille of her car and straight into her mother's head in the front passenger seat before exiting through the roof.

"The car was impaled on the barrier prong like a kebab," said witness Fai Yao.

"It went through the grille, up through the engine bay, then through the dashboard and through the passenger compartment before it came out through the roof.

"It hit the poor woman straight in the head at very high speed. She didn't have a chance," he added.

Police say victim Wang Chiu, 68, died instantly in the crash in the city of Chongqing in south-western China.

"The Volkswagen Golf driver admits that she was on the phone when she crashed and had been distracted by the call," said a police spokesman.

"Her front seat passenger died instantly during the impact. The driver and two rear seat passengers were also injured and were treated at hospital.

"We will be interviewing the driver formally when she has recovered from her injuries.

"We're keeping an open mind about the cause but no other vehicle was involved," he added.
