Backaldrin to expand in Jordan

By Lisa Chapman

Upper Austrian bakery-equipment manufacturer Backaldrin said today (Weds) it would double its production and storage capacity in the Jordanian capital Amman.

Jürgen Reimann, a spokesman for the family-owned firm based in Asten bei Linz said the company would spend around two million Euros on the project, which would be finished early next year.

He added that 25 per cent of the raw material that the expanded plant would use would come from Austria, mainly from Upper Austria.

Backaldrin, which has been active in Jordan since 1996, does business in more than 80 countries around the world.

Founded in 1964, the firm supplies bakeries with more than 400 pieces of equipment and employs 580 people.
