First Aston Martin not built in UK produced in Graz

By Thomas Hochwarter

Workers at the Magna Steyr plant in Graz-Thondorf have started producing the first Aston Martin built outside the UK.

Around 2,000 Aston Martin Rapide will be produced by 240 workers at the Canadian-Austrian car parts maker Magna’s factory annually, it was announced today (Mon).

The car – which costs around 200,000 Euros – will go on sale from the second quarter of next year but orders can be placed already.

Engineers are currently testing the 477-horsepower car.

Austrian Magna workers had to undergo six-month courses on how to build the Rapide at the British company’s headquarters in Gaydon, Warwickshire.
