Fischer establishes US subsidiary

By Lisa Chapman

Austrian sporting goods manufacturer Fischer yesterday (Tues) said Fischer Skis US LLC had become its new US subsidiary.

The firm, based in Ried im Innkreis, Upper Austria, said the subsidiary in Auburn, New Hampshire would make its marketing and general business models more efficient.

Fischer Sports GmbH CEO Franz Föttinger said "targeted investments in products and marketing will enable us to have the same top position in the large US market that we already have in many European markets."

He added Fischer had been US market leader in the cross-country-skiing sector for some years.

Föttinger added Fischer was open to cooperation with other firms active in the USA if it would make its business there more efficient. He added the company had held talks with other European firms over possible deals.

Fischer’s subsidiaries in Germany, Austria and the Russian Federation have been operating successfully for some time.
