Wolford reports turnover increase

Vorarlberg textile firm Wolford reported today its turnover had risen by 5.7 per cent year on year to 44.2 million Euros in the third quarter (November to January) of its current business year (1 May to 30 April).

Wolford board chairman Holger Dahmen added that turnover had declined by 4.9 per cent year on year during the first nine months of its current business year after having been down by 10.7 per cent at its halfway point. He added that the firm expected an increase for the entire 2009/2010 business year.

Wolford had losses of 1.2 million Euros in its 2008/2009 business year.

Dahmen added that turnover had increased by 12.3 per cent in the third quarter at its own boutiques, Shop-in-Shops and factory outlets.

Turnover was up by 6.7 per cent in Germany, 16.7 per cent in the USA, 9.8 per cent in the UK and 17.8 per cent in Spain in the third quarter.

Dahmen warned that the figures supplied today (Fri) were preliminary and noted final figures would be released on 19 March 2010.

Dahmen had said last September that Wolford was preparing for "post-crisis growth," adding that the firm would continue to become more efficient, to improve its distribution network, to open new boutiques and to concentrate on its core business.
