Styria to invest €42.4mn in vocational schools

The Styrian government will invest 42.4 million Euros in renovation of provincial vocational schools, boarding schools and homes for apprentices, according to Social Democratic (SPÖ) educational councillor Elisabeth Grossmann.

She said yesterday (Mon) renovation was needed especially at the vocational school centre in Graz’s St. Peter area and an apprentices’ home in Murau.

She added work would begin by 2011 at the latest and include more fire-safety measures at the institutions in question. The provincial real estate agency (LIG) would fund the work, she added.

Former People’s Party (ÖVP) councillor Kristina Edlinger-Ploder oversaw 19.8 million Euros investment in renovation of a number of vocational schools in 2004.
