Travel agencies have reported an increase in flight bookings, according to booking platform Amadeus Austria.
It reported yesterday (Mon) that the negative trend of declining bookings that had begun in January 2009 had reversed itself late last year.
Bookings increased by 9.6 per cent in November and by 18.1 per cent in December 2009, compared to the same months in 2008.
Amadeus Austria chief Wilfried Kropp was quoted in the newspaper WirtschaftsBlatt as saying: "That is a positive signal for 2010."
He noted there had been a slight decline in bookings in January but claimed their number would continue to increase during the rest of the year.
Kropp said there had been a decline of 5.3 per cent in bookings year on year during the first 10 months of 2009.
