Austrian auctioneer bids for Croat gold and silver, report claims

A Vienna-based auction house is reportedly interested in a Croatian company’s gold and silver stock.

Online newspaper Croatian Times reports today (Thurs) that one of the two offers made for Sinj-based Alkar Knight Association’s gold and silver reserves came from H. D. Rauch GmbH.

The association decided to sell 18.5 kilos of gold and 160 kilos of silver gold to finance a construction project.

It reportedly plans to build "Alkarski dvori" (Alkar Castle) and set up a museum in it.

The Alkar Knight Association’s knight riding competitions taking place in the streets of Sinj have a tradition of more than 290 years.

A decision on the offers will be made at the next association meeting. The group refused to reveal when it will take place.
