Euro Bus collects Schillings worth €327,000 in Burgenland

Schillings worth more than 300,000 Euros were handed in last week when the Austrian National Bank’s (OeNB) Euro Bus toured Burgenland.

OeNB said today (Tues) more than 4,700 residents of the eastern province took the opportunity to exchange their stashed Schilling coins and notes into Euros. The Schilling was succeeded by the Euro as the Austrian currency in 2002.

The institute announced around 327,000 Euros were paid out as its Euro Bus stopped at various Burgenland towns last week to give people the opportunity to hand in their Schillings.

Euro Bus organisers also inform people about the Euro notes’ security features when they regularly tour Austria.
