Nagsasalita ka ba ng tagalog? – Do you speak Tagalog? About 9.000 people in Vienna would immediately reply "Yes!" as the city of Vienna counts 8.972 inhabitants with Filipino migrant background and another 3.566 inhabitants with Filipino citizenship.
Eton Institute Vienna http://www.etoninstitute.com/at/ therefore takes the opportunity to throw the spotlight on the city’s Filipino Community and to promote Filipino language in Vienna - in cooperation with the "4. Wiener Integrationswoche" event series http://www.integrationswoche.at/.
Eton Institute offers to get in touch with that incredibly multifaceted language with Spanish, English and Arabic influence at a free Filipino language course at the occasion of the event series "4. Wiener Integrationswoche", which puts an emphasis on promoting a positive image of migrants and integration.
Corresponding with the Institute’s self-understanding the offer exceeds a regular language course as there will also be a presentation of extensive background knowledge of the multilayered and rich Filipino culture.
Eton Institute aims to contribute in helping internationals getting started in Vienna. Besides it has always been one of the institute’s major concerns to display Vienna’s international community and to introduce it to the general public. A multitude of cultural and other social events such as "Speak Datings" provide vivid platforms of exchange. These efforts have been embraced with great interest and have lead to the creation of the young and urban "Eton Institute Community".
"We see integration as an asset and a chance. Participating at the Wiener Integrationswoche therefore is a logic consequence of our daily business and efforts to promote migrants’ participation in social and public life. This is what we consider a basic precondition for a positive development of the society as a whole", says Oana Toma, Operations Executive at Eton Institute Vienna.
