Austrian killed in Bavarian truck smash

An investigation is underway after 51-year-old Innsbruck man was killed when he smashed into the back of a lorry at a motorway stop this morning (Tues).

Police said the man had failed to see the end of a lorry’s trailer which had been left sticking out into the entryway of the car park on the German side of the Inntal motorway (A93).

He died of his injuries soon after the incident at the Gletschergarten parking lot near Oberaudorf.

German cops said they were now investigating whether the 26-year-old driver of a Czech articulated lorry could face criminal charges over the incident.
