Austrian Major to command EU mission in Bosnia-Herzegovina

Austrian Major General Bernhard Bair is to take command of the EU military mission in Bosnia-Herzegovina next month, it has been announced.
He will take over on 4 December, EU officials said yesterday (Thurs) in Brussels.
Bair, who was picked for the post by the EU’s Political and Security/Political Committee (PSK), will succeed Italian Major General Stefano Castagnotto as commander of EUFOR/Althea for one year.
Austrian media have cited Brussels military sources as saying Austria will increase the size of its contingent in EUFOR/Althea from 100 to between 150 and 160 troops when Bair assumes command of the mission.
