Mystery surrounds German hiker's death

Mystery surrounds the death of a German hiker in Vorarlberg this weekend.

Vorarlberg officials said today (Mon) the body of the 30-year-old had been hiking with a female friend near the town of Tschagguns on Saturday afternoon when they both slipped and fell in the dark.

The woman – who was on a trip with the man and other holidaymakers from Lindau - said she found her friend dead straight after the fall but doctors examining his corpse said they found no trace of external injuries.

Prosecutors have ordered an autopsy.
