More psychologists to work at schools as violence soars

More psychologists are to be employed at schools in a bid to tackle soaring violence, SPÖ Education Minister Claudia Schmied has announced.

The Social Democrat also said yesterday (Weds) social-service pilot projects focusing on problems at Austrian schools will be rolled out with two prevention programmes that have already proved a success in some regions to be introduced across the country.

Schmied was speaking ahead of a meeting of school authorities representatives, police, teacher-training colleges, psychiatrists and business leaders discussing education.
