Two men found dead in an Upper Austrian flat yesterday (Thurs) were drug addicts who had overdosed days earlier, police believe.
Autopsies have been ordered on the bodies of the pair, aged 23 and 28, which were found by a social worker in a flat in Leonding near Linz.
Provincial police general Alois Lißl today said the pair – who were known on the Linz drug scene – had probably overdosed after injecting themselves with an as yet unknown substance.
The Federal Health Ministry said earlier this month that consumption of illegal drugs was "relatively stable" in Austria. Officials announced there were 169 confirmed deaths linked to consumption of illegal drugs in 2008 compared to 175 in 2007.
