Train rams driver into river

A 63-year-old driver survived after his car was rammed 50 metres down a rail track and into a river yesterday (Sun).
He was dragged to safety by a passerby who saw the smash and waded into the one-metre-deep Salzach River near Mittersill in Salzburg’s Pinzgau to pull him from the wrecked vehicle.
The man was taken by helicopter to a Salzburg hospital. No one on the train was injured and police are investigating why the driver failed to stop at the level crossing.
