Schönborn visits pilgrimage destination Medjugorje

By Ivo Scepanovic

Vienna Archbishop Christoph Cardinal Schönborn spent New Year’s at Bosnia-Herzegovina pilgrimage destination Medjugorje.

Schönborn wanted his visit to be private since he wanted to spend time in silence and prayer.

The Roman Catholic Church has still not officially recognized the place where the Virgin Mary reportedly appeared to six school children in 1981.

Since then, over 30 million pilgrims have visited the location in the southern part of the country.
