TV station's 'half swastika' logo causes a stir

Bosses at Austrian broadcaster Puls 4 have refused to change the station’s logo despite fury among viewers who claim it resembles half of the Nazi swastika.

"It’s a design question for us. The logo symbolises the number four," Puls 4 spokeswoman Christina Patzl told the Austrian Times.

Patzl said company bosses "definitely have no intention of changing the logo".

She claimed designers had not been inspired by the Nazi swastika when they came up with the logo for the station, which is part of the German Sat.1-ProSieben group and began broadcasting in January 2008.

Puls 4 recently increased its market share by screening two series of "Austria’s Next Top Model", its adaption of Heidi Klum’s German TV hit.

Meanwhile, however, it has been reported that a growing number of viewers are furious over the company’s logo, which they claim has a striking similarity to half of a swastika.
