Old woman saved from fire

A 91-year-old woman was saved by her neighbour yesterday (Mon) after her house caught fire.

The neighbour saw flames coming out of the house in Siegendorf in Burgenland’s Eisenstadt-Umgebung district and called emergency services.

Firemen who found the woman sitting just metres away from flames as the fire spread through her home managed to get her out of the house and she was taken to hospital.

Police said the fire had broken out in the kitchen or dining room and an investigation is underway into its cause.
