Four Austrians on a cruise ship in the Caribbean struck down with a norovirus epidemic are due to return home today (Fri).
The media have reported that 419 of the 1,838 passengers on board the ship have come down with an illness lasting three days caused by the virus. Those who are ill suffer from both nausea and diarrhoea.
In addition, 27 of the ship’s 849 crewmen became ill. A doctor and two nurses were helicoptered to the vessel to care for the sick.
The Austrians’ travel agency said they were scheduled to return home today.
