Two doctors and a Vienna hospital have been charged with negligent manslaughter in the death of a woman who overdosed on a pain killer.
Kirstin R., 23, who underwent a routine foot operation at the "Göttlicher Heiland" hospital on 27 November 2008 had been sedated with the pain killer.
But a medical expert has said doctors administered too much affecting the woman’s ability to breath which caused her to have a fatal heart attack.
Vienna public prosecutor spokesman Gerhard Jarosch said the two doctors had been guilty of serious mistakes and lack of control of the dosage given to the woman.
