Worker's leg seriously injured by cutting machine
A 35-year-old man was seriously injured yesterday (Thurs) when he inadvertently stuck his right leg into a cutting machine in Ampflwang, Upper Austria, police said.
The man was helping a colleague adjust the machine at a carpentry shop when his leg got chopped.
Rescuers took the man by helicopter to a hospital in Linz, where he underwent emergency surgery.
In a similar accident, a 71-year-old man was rushed to hospital on Wednesday after his lower left leg got caught in a wood splitting machine.
Police in Welten in Burgenland’s Jennersdorf district said a friend of the man who was present managed to turn the machine off before it severed the entire leg.
The pensioner was taken to a hospital in Feldbach.
