Toddler survives fall from window

A two-year-old girl who fell three metres from the window of her bedroom on Saturday, was unhurt after landing on a blanket of snow, police say.

The accident in Lieboch in Styria’s Graz-Umgebung happened while the girl’s parents were repairing the bed of their other child in their bedroom. The two-year-old climbed onto a piece of furniture in front of the window and opened it herself before falling out.

Police said snow on the ground below the window had probably cushioned the impact of the fall and prevented her from being injured.

Her parents heard her screams and called rescuers, who took her to a hospital in Graz. Doctors could not find any evidence of injury, even bruises, but kept her in the hospital overnight for observation.
