Europa Forum Lech is cancelled

Europa Forum Lech, which was to have been held from Friday to Sunday this week, has been cancelled owing to lack of  prominent participation, it emerged yesterday (Mon).

Angelika Feigl, a spokeswoman for Social Democratic (SPÖ) Chancellor Werner Faymann, said that People’s Party (ÖVP) Foreign Minister Michael Spindelegger, Vorarlberg ÖVP Governor Herbert Sausgruber and he had agreed to cancel the event since many prominent invitees had said they would not attend.

There was no Europa Forum last year owing to the financial crisis. The last one took place in March 2008.

The Austrian media have reported that many in Vorarlberg fear a second consecutive cancellation means the event has already become history.
