Hunter spots struggling kite surfer
A distressed kite surfer was rescued after a hunter spotted him floating in Lake Neusiedl yesterday (Sun).
The 28-year-old sportsman from Salzburg had ran out of strength trying to make it to the shore at the steppe lake in Burgenland.
The hypothermic kite surfer was hospitalised after being rescued by water police forces called in by a hunter who spotted the man through binoculars while in his hide.
This incident comes just a few weeks after a 44-year-old kite surfer from Vienna suffered serious injuries as strong winds threw him against a caravan parked next to the lake’s waterfront.
Lake Neusiedl – Central Europe’s second-largest steppe lake – is a very popular destination for surfers from all over the world.
