Ban warns of difficult Middle East peace talks
United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has warned that reopened peace talks between Israel and the Palestinian National Authority will "not be easy".
Speaking in Vienna today (Thurs), Ban said about the new round of meetings between political leaders in Washington, D.C., USA: "This will not be an easy process. We will have to work hard."
Ban, who thanked US President Barack Obama for his initiative on the issue, called Palestinian National Authority President Mahmoud Abbas an "acknowledged political leader". Ban claimed "certain groups" would attempt to prevent successful peace talks.
Ban attended a ceremony in Vienna to mark the opening of the International Anti Corruption Academy (IACA) - the first of its kind - in Laxenburg, Lower Austria.
The former South Korean Ambassador to Austria stressed that he always loved returning to Austria. "I left a piece of my heart here," he said.
