Lamborghini does 274kph in motorway race
Two speeders have been banned from the roads after a wild chase with police on Sunday, officials announced today (Tues).
Traffic authorities in the province of Lower Austria said a Serb Lamborghini driver was caught doing 274 kilometres per hour (kph), while his Bulgarian "rival" clocked 233 kph in his Audi.
Both men were stopped near the A1 western motorway’s Steinhäusl exit, around 80 kilometres after police took up the chase.
The offenders had to hand over their licences. Both face further charges, said police.
They pointed out that the Lamborghini was responsible for the second-fastest speed offence ever recorded in Austria after a Ferrari's 284 kph in the 1990s.
