Co-working initiative comes to Innsbruck

The cultural initiative "Die Bäckerei" has brought the American trend of 'co-working' to Innsbruck in Austria.

The "Die Bäckerei" team has created an opportunity for freelancers to find a creative place to work by offering 15 work places on the first floor of the former industrial bakery on Dreiheiligen street, now use as a space for art and culture.

To rent a work place for a day costs 10 Euros, a week costs 40 Euros and a month 130 Euros. It can be used twenty-four-seven and includes access to the internet and a printer.

The initiator of the project, David Prieth, says that the priority of co-working is the communication of ideas between the people working in the same place. "We want to promote, that the people exchange, so they see that they can approach any problems from a new perspective and set new questions. There is an opportunity for anyone to meet people, that they may otherwise not meet".

Martin Winchbach, one of the freelancers said that he has been working at home for many years. "Since I began to work from here, I enjoy working more and it is easier to come up with new ideas," he said.

"If someone has a problem it is good to speak about it with somebody. The atmosphere is pleasant and the exchange with other co-workers is enjoyable," said Brigitte Hainzer, another of the co-workers.

Julia Scherzer, who helped to initiate the idea, reveals that there are plans for an internet platform, which will help the co-workers to present their projects and ideas.
