Luxury hotel suite opens in Schoenbrunn Palace

Visitors to the Schoenbrunn Palace in Vienna who aren't satisfied with just a day trip around the house and gardens will soon have the opportunity to splash out on an overnight stay at a luxury apartment in the palace.

From the 30 April a luxurious hotel suite with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a living room, a dining room and a kitchen will be made available to tourists who don't mind the 699 EUR price tag per person, per night.

Those with some extra loose change could even try out the fancy extras provided by hotel company Austria Trend Hotel Group, such as the personal butler, horse-drawn carriage and in-house caterers.

The hotel group, who are running the hotel suite, have said they have already received interest in the royal accommodation from Arab and Asian tourists.

The suite is kitted out in royal glory, with decorations imitating styles from the era of the Hasburg Empire, including a four-poster bed, traditional red silk fabric, and a black, white and gold colour scheme.

Until the fall of the Austrian-Hungarian monarchy in 1918, Schoenbrunn Palace had been the summer home of the ruling Habsburg family. It is now Vienna's top tourist attraction, seeing around 2.7 million visitors each year.
