Hopeful applicants for a job with an Austrian automobile club in Upper Austria have had to answer personal questions about sexual preferences in an application test - although the intruding questions were being asked unbeknownst to the employer.
Prospective employees of Austrian automobile club, OeMTC, have occasionally had to answer application questions such as "Do you have fun during sex?!" and "Do you appreciate body tenderness?".
The "Test-On-Fire", which contains 100 over the top personal questions, has been discontinued for over ten years in the rest of the country but for some reason was still used in the province of Upper Austria, where finally after years a complaint about the unreasonable test was made.
Michaela Frech, the chairlady of the town hall meeting of Steyr, federal state of Upper Austria, was shocked when she read the questions an applicant had to answer. "This is sexist!", she said. The test was immediately removed after her complaint.
The national director of the OeAMTC, Josef Thurnhofer, said: "I was myself shocked, when I read it. We don’t know the test in detail, we bought it years ago from industrial physiologists in Vienna. I asked some of the recruited employees and they said that they were wondering about the test, but they didn't say anything. Sometimes routine is a curse."
