Shakespeare bookshop celebrates 450 years with day festival

A celebration of William Shakespeare's fan base around the world is being hosted in Vienna this month at the English language book store Shakespeare & Company.

Taking place on Wednesday 23 April, the day festival 'Will in the World' marks the bookshop's 450th birthday. On that day there will be the chance to hear thoughts from and about the famous playwrite from different languages, including Japanese, Hungarian, Czech, Africaans, Hebrew, Arabic and Persian.

Music and refreshments will be put on all day in collaboration with Wiener Lesetheater (Vienna's Reader's Theatre), with indoor and outdoor performance from 14:00 to 20:00. Visitors are invited to come and go to the event as they please.

Spring is also hosting other literary events, including International Children's Book Day that took place on 2 April and World Book Day on 6 March 2013, a worldwide event designated by UNESCO as a celebration of book and reading.

Shakespeare & Company is an English language book shop in Vienna's first district that offers a wide range of books and magazines on numerous subjects from around the world, including classical and contemporary literature, graphic novels, Austrian writers in translation, academic books and books on art, music and theatre.
