Icelandic artist shoots whole film in front of live audience in Vienna

An Icelandic artist is making a film adaptation of the novel World Light in Vienna - but is carrying out the whole project, including filming, in front of a live studio audience.

Over the course of a few weeks, visitors to the studio space in Augarten's Fracesca Habsburg Art Space have had the chance to see the project from artist Ragnar Kjartansson  develop from the rehearsals to the filming of scenes to the making of stage production sets.

There has even been the chance to see Kjartan Sveinsson, a former member of Sigur Ros and musician, recording a song for the film.

Twenty two people are involved in the production of the epic Icelandic novel World Light and there is still chance to catch a part of this special artistic project - performances are taking place up until 27 April. Following this an exhibition will be put up called Ragnar Kjartansson and Friends: The Palace of the Summerland that will run until June.
